More than 840 different species of flora and fauna have been identified in the Alps and many of them can only be found in the alpine area

Found almost anywhere on the mountains, however, plants closer to the top are often shorter due to the cold and lack of nutrients

-Feldmark (unique species or communities of prostrate plants that occur in remote alpine regions

-Cushion Caraway
- Small Star Plantain

Found closer towards the bottom of the alps, as the weather is too cold at the top

- Common Brushtail Possum
- Mountain Brushtail Possum
- Eastern Pygmy Possum
- Certain species of echidna
